Jim Pruitt, negro, was shot to death on a farm South of here today by Deputies Sheriff Harley Holeman and R.M. Pate after the officers had been called to quiet Pruitt, said by his employer, H.R. Bambarger, to have threatened him with a club. The officers reported that the negro advanced on them with a club and that they fired when he resisted arrest. The officers said Pruitt had been suspected by Bambarger of stealing chickens and had been warned to leave the farm.
