Lynching of Murderers,, Montgomery, Ala., June 17.-Tuesday, night. seven miles from Wetumpka,, William Garden and his wife and William Carlee, all old persons, were murdered and their house was burned to conceal the crime. Garden hoarded his, money, and the murder was committed, to secure it. Sol Jackson, Lewis Spear, and another negro were arrested for the, crime. Jackson and Spear confessed, and told where they buried $1200. Thurs-, day a mob of 500 broke in the jail, but, was unable to get into the inner cage, where the prisoners were., The sheriff telegraphed the governor, for troops, and 90 former members of, the militia left on a special train. Before their arrival, however, the mob procured blacksmith tools. broke open the, cage and secured the prisoners. The intention. it was said, was to take them, to the scene of the crime and hang them
