TWELVE JAILED FOR MURDER. They Are Accused of Killing a Man Who Might Turn Informer. Montgomery, Ala., April 3.-To-night Sheriff Sedherry and deputies of Elmore county brought Josephus and Will Jowell, John Morgan, John Edwards, Jr., and Alonzo Edwards, Luther Ingram and C. M. Kitchen, charged with murder, to this city for safekeeping. They are charged with the murder of Rufus Swindler, near Wetumpka last week. Yesterday one of the number after be- ing arrested, confessed that they had formed a band and entered into a compact to kill Swindler, whom they were afraid would inform the federal officers of their practice of making whisky. They are whitecappers and went to Swindler's house at night; beat him and his wife and dragged him out of bed and shot him dead. They had their faces blacked. John Edwards, Sr., and Kitchen came to Wetumpka to-day to employ counsel for the prisoners and they were arrested also.
