A Democratic Walkover at Montgomery. Special to The Times-Democrat. Montgomery. Aug. 1.—The State election in this city and county is proceeding very quietly, there being no opposition to the Democratic candidates for State and county offices. The report of a serious difficulty between Populists and Democrats near Cusseta, Lee county, has been verified. Two white men and four negroes were wounded. A posse of white men from Opelika, Lafayette and West Point, armed to the teeth, hurried to the scene of trouble, and later reports indicate that peace is restored.
