Montgomery, Ala.—Two negroes, Ed. and Will Smith, were taken from the Watumpka county jail early today by a masked mob of fifty men and lynched in a woods nearby. Militia, ordered from here by Governor O'Neil, failed to arrive in time to prevent the lynching, the third in the immediate vicinity within the past ten days. The negroes were held as suspects in the murder, last Thursday, of R. A., Stillwell, a planter, After the assassination bloodhounds followed a scent to the negroes' cabin.
