STATE OF ALABAMA-TALLAPOOSA COUNTY, To any Licensed or Ordained Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or Probate Court, or Justice of the Peace for said County, GREETING : You are hereby authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony between, Peter Lewis, colored, and Matilda Pounds, colored, and this shall be your sufficient authority for so doing. Given under my hand and seal this 25th day of December A. D. 1879, Allen Sturdivant, Judge of Probate. The above named parties were married by me, on the 25 day of December 1879, Mitchell Pearson.
