Transcript: Constable Kills Negro. Tuscaloosa, May 18,(Special.)- News has been received of the killing of Jack Brown a negro man by Constable Alf Powell on the Smith place about three miles from this city. The officer went to Brown's house with a warrant for his arrest and it seems that Brown pulled a gun on the officer whereupon officer Powell fired upon the negro several times, striking in the temple and killing him instantly.
