Biography

On November 5, 1914, Donny Cook, between 36 and 40 years old, was lynched in the New Lexington area near the Walker county line. Cook was accused of shooting a police deputy. While working as a convict laborer on a county road a white man shot Cook from the woods and killed him. Cook left behind a father, Len Cook, a mother, Mattie Cook, and brother, Coker Cook.
