HuntsvilleMay 12 f-Thc corpses of two brazen faced ncgresscs, Nellie Smith and Mandy White, are dangling from the limb of alive oak just on the outskirts of Jeff. They were, banged last night for poisoning Joshua Kellv. a well-known citizen. They confessed to two attempts on the lives of the Kelly family. " The first attempt resulted iu the death of Mr. Kelly. Sheriff J. P. Powell has gone to the scene to cut down the bodies. Huntsville. May 12. Nine- weeks ago the first attempt on the lives of the Kelly family was made. The family sickened shortly after eating supper. Joshua Kelly died 24 hours afterward. There were six whites and eight negroes affected. Messrs. D. E. and Lawson Kel ly became critically ill, as did Mrs. E. Kelly. Oakley Woodard, clerk m a store who came near dying from the other poisoning, and a Tennessee drummer who spent last night with thcin were two other victims. Incriminating evidence was found Sat urday at the Kelly home at Jeff, and a clue in the shape of a box tf poison . lead to the detection of the negresscs. The premises were searched and under neath the kitchen was found a poison box. On it was stamped the trademark of D. E. and J. 0. Kelly, the grocery store at Jeff. The poison, which was "rough on rats" was placed in the biscuits which all the affected ate.
