Mr. Tom James, who is working in North Birmingham, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. James, at this place, last week. Mr. Sam Perry, Jr., of Birmingham spent Saturday and Sunday with his family, who are visiting Mr. H. W. Perry at Blue Jacket. Messrs. A. H. Crawford and I. R. Powell, former residents of this place, but who are now farming, were recent visitors to their many friends here. Mrs. Jennie White,, who has been quite seriously ill for several weeks, is, we are glad to say, improving. Her many friends wish for her an early recovery The Fourth was well observed here. There was no work at mine, and the commissary was closed in order that all might have a day of rest and recreation. We are glad to learn that Mrs. Bogue Smith, who recently underwent an operation for an pendicitis, is doing nicely and will soon be able to return home. Mr. C. J. Riley and family left Saturday to spend the Fourth with Mrs. Riley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Champion, near Vance. We wish them a pleasant visit. Mr. George Smith, who has been visiting his daughter, Mrs. Tom Bradford, near Lowreytown, arrived Saturday to spend some time with his daughter. Mrs. Kelley Leonard at this place. Mrs. G. D. Mitchell and children, Frank, Sallie and Mabel, left Saturday to spend the Fourth with the former's sister, Mrs. J. H. Milam, near Six Mile. We wish them a pleasant visit. Master Bennie Houlditch Of Birmingham, a former resident of Braehead, is visiting his grandfather, "Uncle" Johnny Boyd. Bennie has many friends here, who are always glad to see him. Messrs. Josh Jones and Robert Campbell spent several days on the river last week fishing. They report a fine time. Said they caught all the fish they could eat, but not enough to bring any home.
