Funeral Services Held For Callie J. Riley Funeral services for Mr. Callie J. Riley, age 78, who passed away; at the Veterans Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday, June 7, 1955, were held at the; First Baptist Church, West Blocton, at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, June' 9th. The Rev. Thomas Brock, of Anniston, a former pastor, and! the Rev. Fx-ed Walker, pastor,; officiated. The choir sang Does. Jesus Care and In The Gardren with Miss Lavella McIntosh at the organ. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tuscaloosa. Collins Funeral; Home directing. Mr. Riley was born in Koscuisko, Mississippi, August 10, ; 1877, coming to Alabama at the; age of 10 to live with his uncle, D. L. Riley, in West Blocton and his grandfather, Richmond Riley, in the Rocky Community. He1 worked in the coal mines of Bibb County for 30 years, farmed for a number of years, and was a peace officer of the county 12 years. He was a Spanish-American War veteran, a member of the Henry B. Foster Camp No. 4, j Spanish-American War Veterans,! Tuscaloosa, Ala., a member of the First Baptist Church, West Blocton. He was a useful citizen, a kind neighbor, a true and loyal friend and will be greatly missed. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Dicie Anne Champion Riley; four daughters, Mrs. Roy King, of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Manley W. Griffin and Mrs. K. B. Propst, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Mrs. Dennis B. Burtram, of West Blocton; there sons, Percy Riley, of Birmingham, J. L. Riley, of Tuscaloosa, and C. J. Riley, Jr., of Aberdeen, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother and four sisters. Pallbearers were Oliver Yeager, Charlie Haynes, Billy Robinson, Robert Riley, Charles Mc-Elroy and J. M. Langston.
