"Sunday a man was killed in Alabama. His name was James Earl Motley. He was a black man. How many mourned his death? How many consciences were stir- red? He was murdered in an Alabama jail. Let me answer my own questions. Very few leaders were angry, very few consciences were stirred. Because we have grown used to seeing black young- sters slaughtered like animals.
