Who Kept Disorderly Resort, and Be
lieved to Have Drowned Her.
Monroe, La, July 25. Unidentified
men broke into the city jail here early
to-day and carried off Laura Porter,
a Negro woman, who was keeper of a
resort where white men frequented.
It is generally believed that she was
thrown into the Ouachita River and
drowned.
The woman had been waa-ne dto
leave town many times prior itb her
recent arrest.
