MONROE, La., July 25. —Laura
Porter, a negress, was taken from
the jail today by a mob and it is
believed she has been drowned in
the Ouchlta river. The mob car
ried he screaming woman toward
the river threatening to drown
her. Officers followed but no de
tails of the mob's action has been
received here. The negress was
proprietress of a resort in which
it is alleged a number of white
persons were robbed. She was
arrested and taken to the county
Jail.
