On February 3, 1928, J.G. Montgomery, age unknown was lynched by Joe Miller at the Abernant Highway Office. He was accused of asking Joe Miller’s wife to ride with him and two friends to Birmingham. Montgomery was a cab driver in Tuscaloosa before he was lynched.
