SLAIN COLORED SOLDIER HAD BAD POLICE RECORD Festus Crumby, alias Harry Crum-by, the negro soldier who was killed by young Tim Ryan out at Holt, has a record in police court in this city that is not at all enviable. He was frequently arrested for carrying concealed weapons, vagrancy and violating the prohibition law. On one occasion he was arrested by Police Officer Zack Ryan and turned over to Sheriff Watts. While the office force was not watching, Crummy leaped out of the window and made his escape. The day before he was killed he made approaches to some ladies in Northport and immediately had business elsewhere, for it was too hot for him over there. He then went down to the A. G. S. depot, purchased something in a restaurant and tried to be fresh with the young lady who waited on him.
