- ALABAMA. EUTAW. A Negro Lynched for Murder. BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 25.-[Special]-At Eutaw. Green county, Ala., today at 12:07, Jim Seams, colored, was hung for the murder, by shooting, of Deputy Sheriff Autrey, of Tuscaloosa county, last spring. The hanging was a quiet affair, being witnessed by only a few. Seams protested to the last that he shot the deputy in self defense. His neck was broken by the fall, and life was extinct in nineteen minutes, and he was cut down in twenty-two. He died without a struggle.
