The bodies of two negroes, Dave and Jerry Brown, both shot to death, were found lying beside a road a mile from Elrod. Ernest Elledge, Jr., of Elrod, was arrested and brought to Tuscaloosa by deputy sheriffs, who said he admitted slaying the negroes, claiming he acted in self defense.
