- Judge reviews second lynching, but tells Jurors They need not probe it. Tuscaloosa. Oct. 2 (AP)—A special grand jury today resumed investigation of the lynching of Dan Pippen Jr., and AT Harden young negroes charged with attacking and slaying Miss Vaudine Maddox. Judge Henry L. Foster in a brief charge, reviewed the lunching of Dennis Cross on Sept. 24, but told the jurors they need not investigate the Cross case.
