- Mrs. T. J. Hollis, of this place, was called to the home of her parents at Eclectic, Elmore County, Ala., late last Monday afternoon on a sad mission. Her father, Mr. J. H. Chrietzberg was shot by a negro Sunday morning and died Monday from the effects of the wound. Mrs. Hollis was unavoidably detained until yesterday morning, when she left, going via way of Choctaw City. Hon. T. J. Hollis was unable to accompany her owing to important business in the court here this week. Mr. Chrietzberg was, at the time he was shot, reprehending two negroes for having caused a horse to run away with a buggy in which were two of his daughters. A posse was soon formed and in close persuit when one of their number was also shot and killed by one of the negroes, who was also killed. The posse continued on their man hunt with determined efforts and no doubt have succeeded either in capturing or killing the other negro are this.
