- A TRIPPLE TRAGEDY Report of a terrible tragedy reached here Monday. Two white men, one negro and a mule were killed near Eclectic last Sunday afternoon. The daughters of John Critzberg were out driving in a buggy and a negro in a vehicle ran against their buggy upsetting and badiy injuring it; they re- ported the matter to their father who accosted the negro man about the matter, the negro spoke impudently a to him and Mr. Critzberg struck him with a buggy whip whereupon the negro drew a revolver and shot him to death. The negro having fled, dogs were procured from the penitentiary and put on his trail, they trailed him to a house where they brought him to bay. The house was searched without discovering the negro and the pursuing posse were about to leave the place when the negro who was in the loft of the building fired upon Claude Kidd, a white man, with mortal effect. The posse then set fire to the building and the negro came out and attempted his escape firing at and missing a member of the posse, one of the ballets taking effect upon a male killing it instantly. At that time a volley of shots were fired into the negro, bringing him to speedy justice. Thus the lives of three men were excinguished abc us a matter that might have been otherwise
