Biography: On October 19, 1907, Columbus Davis, a 30-year-old, was accused of being on a “drunken rampage” at the residence of Si Hinton. When Hinton arrived home, he claimed Davis went for his gun. Hinton shot and killed Davis, claiming self-defense. Davis worked as a section hand for Alabama Great Southern Railroad. He left behind his wife, who worked in the kitchen of the Hinton home.
