SERVED HIM RIGHT. BRAVE ACT OF A MODEST YOUNG LADY. She Shoots a Negro who was Trying to Extract Chickens from the Coop Between Suns. A Quick, but Dangerous Way to Raise Spring Poultry. We are indebted to Mr. J. A. Threadgill for the following facts in reference to the shooting of Bill Canada, a negro, by Miss Fannie Howle, at Irma, in Elmore county, last Tuesday night. Some time in the early part of the night Miss Howle heard some disturbance among the chicken...house on her mother...a shot gun that...went to the door. She saw someone attempting to extract the chickens from the coop, and she fired one barrel of the gun at the intruder, which took very serious effect. The party at use coop fell to the ground and squalled out, and an investigation followed, developing the fact that the injured party was Bill Canada, a negro who lived in the neighborhood. At the last accounts the negro was not dead, but pretty seriously wounded. Instead of getting himself on the outside of some nice spring chickens, he now lingers with thirty-two squirrel shot in his body. "Look out dar, white lady, you might hit dese here chickens."
