- THE STATE OF ALABAMA, COLBERT COUNTY., To any ordained or licensed Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Circuit or Probate Courts, or Justice of the Peace for said County, Greeting:, You are hereby authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony between George Smith and Lizzie Ross, and this shall be your sufficient authority for so doing. Given under my hand and seal, this, 7 day of October, A.D., 1900. Fay Delaney (L.S.)JUDGE OF PROBATE., The above named parties were married by me at Cherokee Mtn. Church on the 7 day of, October, 1900, J.J. (illegible word here). G. M. THE STATE OF ALABAMA, COLBERT, COUNTY. Know all men by these Presents that we, George Smith, (illegible word here) Houston and John (illegible word here), are held and firmly bound unto the State of Alabama in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, lawful money of the United States, to the payment of which sum, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. The Condition of the Above Obligation is Such That, whereas, a License to solemnize marriage between Mr. George Smith and Mrs. Lizzie Ross has this day been issued by the Probate Judge of said County, at _____ request: Now, therefore, if there is no lawful cause why such marriage should not be celebrated, then this obligation is to be void; otherwise it is to remain in full force.
