- GOVERNOR CALLS SPECIAL SESSION OF GRAND JURY TO PROBE THE LYNCHING AT COOSADO Tied back to back with a heavy rope, the bodies of Ed and Will Smith, negroes charged with the murder of R. A. Stillwell, Wednesday night were found by members of the National Gard swingingfrom a sycamore tree near railroad tracks at Coosada, early this morning. While on their way from Wetumpka to Coosada seeking to overtake the lynching party which late Sunday night overpowered Sheriff Jackson and took the two negroes out, three white men suspected of being members of the party were arrested.
