- Lyncher Convicted of Murder, Wetumpka, Ala., Special.- George Howard, a member of the mob which lynched Robert White, a negro, in this county some months ago, was convicted of murder in the first degree and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The case was called in the Circuit Court. After the State's evidence was submitted the attorney for the defense announced that Howard desired to make a statement to the court. Upon being sworn Howard admitted his participation in the lynching and gave the names of the members of the mob, which numbered 13.
