- Hubbard discharged two employees and a dispute over pay occurred. Mrs. Hubbard was killed by two black men at the station on the Memphis and Charleston railroad in Bibb County. Mr. Hubbard employed Will and Alex Hill. Fired for indolence and arguing over money. Hubbard went to the door and was shot. Will was captured by a posse from Blocton at midnight, 9 miles from Centerville. The posse said they were taking him to jail, but lynched him instead.
