- Mr. Rufus Hubbard was the man Alex Hill shot. Alex Hill confessed to his crime when he was captured in Dover. Will Hill was captured near McCulley’s mill early Wednesday morning. He was lynched and his head was shot into a shapeless mass. He confessed that he was there when Alex killed Mrs. Hubbard and that they planned to kill her. They heard her husband was gone and went to rob the house. He denied praying before he died. They hung him in a limb and cut him down before he died. Then hung him to a tree and fired a volley into his head. There is threat of a race war.
