- Sheriff Latham left to-night for Centreviile. having in charge Frank Saf-fold. colored, who is to be tried there to-morrow for criminal assault on Mrs. Orr an aged white lady. Saffold has been kept here for safety as his stay in Bibb meant lynching. The officer and prisoner will get off at Woodstock and go to Centreville quietly throng the woods. Witnesses have been summoned secretly and Saffold's trial will be peremptory. Judge Banks accompanied him to secure him against lynching. Private information, however, has gone to Bibb and Saffold's death, even before trial, is not considered an improbability.
