- EXCITEMENT HAS SUBSIDED., Coroner's Jury Returns the Verdict, Usual in Such Cases., HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 13.-(Special.), The excitement consequent to the discov-, ery and hanging of the two negro women,, Mollie Smith and Mandy Franks, in the, neighborhood of Jeff, has abated. The, neighbors, negross and whites, are satis-, fied that the right parties were executed., A wild rumor reached the city this morn-, ing that Jim Nance, a negro man, to whom, suspicion of complicity in the poisoning had, been directed, had been overtaken in his, flight and shot by a mob of armed men., The rumor could not be confirmed; and is, denied by parties from Jeff to-day. Sus-, picion was attached to Nance because he, quit his plow in the field and fled when he, heard that Molly Smith bad been arrested., Jennie Burwell, a negro woman who, claimed to know that the plot to poison, existed, was given three days to get out of, the country. She passed here last night, and went in the direction of Memphis., An inquest has been held over the bodies, of Mollie Smith and Mandy Frank, and the, Coroner's jury returned a verdict that the, deceased came to their death at the hands, of parties unknown.
