- A special term of the Circuit Court of Bibb County was called to investigate the lynching of Jim McMillan. Judge Miller spoke to the grand jury and said that lynching was savagry and urged the jury to do their full duty as citizen no matter the persons on trial. All grand juror members responded to their name, except one that could not be reached by the Sheriff. Solicitor J. Fitz Thompson and the grand jury examined the witnesses. A complete investigation will be made. Five white men are already in jail and they are from Greenpond and Woodstock. There was no indication of excitement, everything was quiet and orderly. The grand jury will make a report of their investigation on Wednesday. Deputy Sheriff B. F. Griffin is acting as baliff for the grand jury.
