- George Lightseey, a wealthy black farmer was taken from his house by a mob because a women two miles away had claimed to be attacked by an unknown assilant. Lightseey get away from the mob and hid in the swamps. The mob threatened his wife. Then they beat Lightseeys brother and forced him to walk in front of the mob while they looked for Lightseey. They could not find him so they released his brother. They went to the home of Jim McMillan and decided to "capture" him. They made him change into a white shirt and blue overalls (the same outfit the assailant was wearing) and carried him to the women. The women never looked at McMillans face, but saw the outfit and shot him in the mouth with her pistol. Immediately the mob "riddled his body with bullets and kicked and stamped the lifeless form." The women had made the same charge three times before.
