- A white women, Mrs. Frier, was allegedly assaulted at her home. She says she was attending to her chores, and started to feed the hogs. She saw a man standing at the porch corner in the yard. She tried to go into the house when he ran up the steps, grabbed her, and tore her dress off. She got away and grabbed a gun, and scared him away by firing a shot. Allegedly, they brought multiple men for her to identify. The one that she said did it, said he did not to the very end. The assault happened on Monday, June 16, 1919. The mob shot a man on Wednesday, June 18, 1919, and left his body on the side of the road. Several arrests have been made and they are being sent to Centreville for court on Thursday.
