- Biography
- On June 2, 1901, Robin White Jr., 27, was lynched in Tallassee, Alabama by a mob of 10-25 white men after being accused of shooting at a white farmer. The white farmer killed chickens belonging to Robert and his relative Abram White. Robin lived with his wife Osillis White on a farm north of Tallassee. They were married for five years. Robin worked as a farm laborer and lived next to houses belonging to Abram and to the household of Robin White Sr., an extended family member. Abram White was likely a half-brother or cousin of Robin Jr. Robin likely worked in this extended family unit on rented farmland to make ends meet. Robin was survived by his wife and by Abram, who escaped the lynch mob and was released from prison after being convicted of assault against the white farmer.
