There are no troops here. The only points in Alabama to which they have been sent, are Eufaula and Livingston. The citizens of Eutaw would consider it a special favor if a company could be stationed in that town. A raid was made on that peaceful place a week ago, by 1000 negro men, and the town was at their mercy. By prudent counsel they were induced to depart in peace, but the citizens would feel safer if a few boys in blue were present for a little while.
