Ala., Nov. 13.-The, Elks' Carnival is in progress here., The Cincinnati Carnival Company arrived from Americus, Ga. Sunday, and the fair is now in full swing. The streets were thronged until a late hour last evening. The week is a gala one, for Tuskaloosa. The company is show-, ing the greatest number of attractions, ever seen in the city, and they will, doubtless be well patronized. John Spruce, a negro, was shot and, almost instantly killed Tuesday evening at about 9 o'clock by a man named, Nolen. who was employed by Mr. Charles Murrey. proprietor of the, "Merry Go Round." It is said that, Spruce was drunk and insisted on, jumping on the horses while in motion, and that Nolen tried to stop him, when, Spruce became abusive and put his, hand in his pocket when Nolen shot, him. Nolen escaped and has not been, caught.
