In the Eastport neighborhood, sometime ago, some unknown dastard, probably black, fired upon a congregation of negroes, wounding one of them. A night or two afterwards twenty-five or thirty negroes attacked the house of John Monette, whom they accused of the offence, firing upon it repeatedly. One of the attacking party was killed.
