- In Hale county, sometime ago, some unknown dastard, fired upon a congregation of negroes, wounding one of them. A night or two afterwards 25 or 30 negroes attacked the house John Monette, whom they accused of the offence, firing upon it repeatedly. One of the attacking party was killed.
