PARDON OF PERRAS.- We learned on Sunday that Perras, the Italian who was convicted some ten days since in the Circuit Court of Perry county, of murder in the second degree, for killing a negro last February, and sentenced to the penitentiary for ten years, had been pardoned by Gov. Smith. The verdict of the jury, if we are correctly informed, was quite unexpected to the country at large, and the action of the Governor in pardoning the convicted man meets with general approval. We are entirely ignorant of the facts of the case as adduced on the trial. -- Selma Times.
