A GOOD CASE BEFORE JUDGE EVANS. -Taylor Harris and Mollie Jenkins, alias Big-eyed Mollie, who were arrested by Detectives Cain and Roxborough for the robbery of goods from the following persons: Messrs. Samuel Bell, H. C. Bayley, A.H. May, Jr., and John Cuggy, were arraigned before Judge Evans on Wednesday at 6 P. M., charged with burglary and larceny. After the witnesses, numbering six, for the State were examined, the evidence was so conclusive that Judge Evans concluded to send Harris down before the Superior Criminal Court under $2000 bonds, and Mollie Jenkins under $1000 bonds.
When Harris found that he had no hope of being saved, he attempted to screen his concubine Mollie by assuming the whole responsibility himself. But the Judge, though he admired the magnanimity of Harris, thought that it was rather late. It will be remembered that the property of Mr. Samuel Bell was stolen at 3 o'clock, A. M., and was recovered from the accused at 6 o'clock the same morning, and the thief and his accomplice arrested and safely lodged in jail.
