Last Sunday Mr. F. F. Hill, a substantial and highly respected planter, residing 4 to 5 miles from Greensboro, shot and killed a colored woman on the place. Gentlemen who repaired to Mr. Hill's as soon as they heard of the occurrance, and who inquired particularly into the facts, have expressed to us the most confident belief that the killing was unintentional. Having received conflicting accounts of the affair, we refrain from giving particulars. Mr. Hill was promptly arrested by Sheriff Knight and brought to town on Monday morning, when the matter was acted upon by a Justice's court, composed of Justices Watt and Booker. Mr. Hill's counsel waived an examination, when the amount of bail was fixed at $5,000, which was promptly given.
