"A negro man by the name of Frank Brown, while engaged in his usual entertainment of thrashing his wife with a trace-chain, was assaulted by his two little step-daughters, aged about ten and twelve years, respectively, on last Thursday night, and wounded so severely, that he died the next day. The little girls used an axe, and, with the first stroke, sliced off a portion of the shoulder and collar bone, and with another, split open the rear of the skull.—Tuscaloosa Times."
