The Greensboro Beacon contains an account of the murder near that place of a young Missourian, formerly in the Confederate service, named Thomas C. Perry. Perry kept a store on the upper Newbern road. He was found on Sunday morning, lying behind his counter dead. The verdict of the Jury of Inquest was that he came to his death by a gunshot wound. A negro man with whom he had had some difficulty a day or two previously, is suspected of having committed the crime, and has been arrested.
