A man by the name of Thomas C Perry, a Missourian, we understand, who was in the Confederate military service,—and who recently opened a small grocery store some six miles from this, on the upper Newbern road, was most foully murdered last Saturday night by some person unknown.—He was found on Sunday morning, lying behind his counter dead. The verdict of the Jury of Inquest was that he came to his death by a gunshot wound. A negro man, with whom he had had some difficulty a day or two previous, is suspected of having committed the crime, and has been arrested and brought to this place for trial, but the case has not yet been investigated. -Greensboro Beacon 4th
