In Greene county, last week, a Mr. Phillips learning that one of his beeves had been shot, went with two white men and three negroes to skin it. Soon afterwards two negroes came with a cart to carry off the beef. Two of the white men fired on them, mortally wounding one, but the other escaped. The dying man confessed that he had killed the beef, and was not driven to it by want, as he had plenty of provisions at home. The two men who fired have been bound over to court in $250 each.
