"Notice of Election. ' IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualifled electors of Marengo County, that, by an order of the Court of County Commissioners of said county, made on the 9th of August, A. D. 1870, an election will be held on Saturday, the 24th day of September, 1870, at the several election precincts of said county, to vote on the proposal of the ""Mobile and Alabama Grand Trunk Rail Road Company,"" for the county of Marengo to subscribe for and take two hundred and fifty thousand dollars of the capital stock of said Railroad Company, being two thousand five hundred shares at one hundred dollars per share, and pay for the same in the bonds of said county of Marengo at par, bearing interest at the rate of eight per cent. per annum. payable semiannunlly, with interest coupons attached, the principal of said bonds to be due and payable in twenty years after issue; and that at said election the qualified electors who, favor the acceptance of said proposition the county of Marengo, shall do so by voting a ballot upon which is printed or written the word ""subscription,"" and those who oppose the acceptance of said proposition by the county of Marengo, shall do so by voting a ballot upon which is printed or written the words "" no subscription;"" which election will boe conducted and take place under the provisions of the general election laws of' the State of Alabama. l'.
