“Coroner’s Inquest- Our prompt and efficient Coroner, John T. Cowley, held an inquest on the body of Cato Scott, freedman, who was shot on Saturday night by Mr. J. J. Morgan, near the Montgomery and West Point Railroad depot. The jury returned a verdict that he came to his death from a gunshot wound, the gun being in the hands of said J. J Morgan. ( Monday March 2 1868) “
