There is no longer any honor amongst thieves. When the so-called secretary of state was in tuskaloosa, he prevailed upon the inefficient negro-elected “solicitor” of the county to resign his badly-filled office; promising him that he would either be reinstated after the prosecution of the supposed killers of the negro murderers of findley, or that he would be well cared for and posited in an equally good office by the State authorities. On these fair conditions, the negro-elected “solicitor” tendered his resignation, and a competent man was selected, whose appointment was forwarded to Mudd for approval.- The late “solicitor” is now “in the cold,” Miller having deceived him by false promises. Whilst the one is deserving of not a particle of pity, the other merits additional reprobation because of this fresh exhibition of raw Yankee rascality. Mr. P.A. Fitts, as solicitor, will have the respect and support of every decent man in the county.
