Face of Jesus
Item
Title
Face of Jesus
Description
Two wooden beams form a cross and intersect with two wooden beams that form an upside-down triangle and extend upward from the ground. A variety of found items are attached to the sculpture to depict Jesus's face, including a wreath of barbed wire attached to the top of the middle wooden beam from which a string of yellow chain (hair) and a circular oxidized piece of metal (face) also hang down. An oxidized chain is strung horizontally across the sculpture. Car headlights form the eyes of the sculpture's face, an old pipe makes up the nose, and a car grill below represents the mouth.
In conversations on this piece, Minter refers to the sculpture's affinity with the peace sign.
