Handwritten receipt renting the labor of these enslaved men from Isabel Pratt to the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, signed by Basil Manly. William, a carpenter, and Edward, his apprentice, together earned their owner $45 for a month's work.

Isabel was the wife of professor Horace Pratt.
